Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead medium-to-large, multi-year aerospace engineering projects through completion
  • Oversee project schedules, budgets, hardware development, and testing
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to meet program objectives, customer requirements, and delivery milestones
  • Identify mitigation plans for impacted projects
  • Pursue cost-saving opportunities to maximize project profitability
  • Conduct meetings and present plans and progress reports
  • Identify project issues and recommend solutions, including resource reallocations or contractual specification changes
  • Oversee administrative and operational aspects of projects according to program guidelines
  • Liaise among project management, planning, project teams, and production line management
  • Review project and budget status, manage schedules, and prepare reports
  • Manage hardware development configurations and equipment modifications
  • Monitor project issues and develop resolutions supporting productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction
  • Maintain integrated master schedules and ensure projects meet schedules and budgets
  • Complete gated reviews throughout the project lifecycle
  • Understand and execute test procedures; analyze, interpret, and report test results
  • Verify internal processes are followed to reduce engineering setbacks
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, provide markups, and coordinate drawing releases
  • Estimate and track budgets and schedules using EVMS data
  • Develop schedules and project budgets for new business proposals
  • Develop test procedures and complete test reports to verify product requirements
  • Document best practices in engineering standard work
  • Communicate with peers and Collins leadership

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • STEM degree and minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience, or no degree and 9 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred
  • Experience in the aerospace or defense industry, particularly with aerospace test equipment, high-performance engine systems, or complex hardware programs
  • Experience with project scheduling, budgeting, and Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS), including project budgets exceeding 10 million
  • Experience developing and managing Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) using Microsoft Project
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, including gearing, motion control, rotational mechanics, and mechanical design principles
  • Understanding of engineering materials, manufacturing processes, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles
  • Experience with mechanical systems integration in aerospace or defense applications
  • Familiarity with test planning, execution, and reporting processes
  • Experience with LabVIEW, Visual Basic, or similar programming and test automation tools
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain security clearance
  • U.S. citizenship required; only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 25–50% of the time
