About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide safety risk analyses for products across all Collins Aerospace SBUs
  • Create safety risk analyses using rate-based analysis or Weibull analysis, with Monte Carlo simulation where applicable
  • Apply appropriate hazards to generate forecasts against military and commercial safety risk thresholds
  • Document methodology and risk results according to regulatory requirements
  • Communicate with internal customers to achieve the best possible safety risk analysis using available data
  • Provide input to optimize product safety mitigation implementation, including specialized burndown plans
  • Participate in the Collins Risk Analysis and Statistical Methods community of practice
  • Support Product Safety Managers through the Product Safety Integrity Team and Product Safety Board
  • Support development of the strategic roadmap for the SMS safety risk management pillar
  • Develop and maintain standard work, lessons learned, processes, and best practices for safety risk analysis
  • Coordinate with Reliability and System Safety Analysis to record and account for product safety imperfections and improvements in read-across
  • Support risk management activities, including safety policy, risk management, assurance, and promotion
  • Participate in efficient process improvements using CORE Principles

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written)
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Prefer experience with Weibull analysis, reliability tools, exceptional Excel skill, or programming in R or Python
  • Prefer experience extracting information to deliver accurate analyses for executive product-safety decisions
  • Prefer statistics, coding, engineering, or mathematics background with expertise in statistics, reliability and safety engineering, preferably aerospace
  • Prefer experience in probability theory, Weibull analysis, Monte Carlo simulation, and structured programming
  • Prefer knowledge of fault tree analysis, reliability block diagrams, and FMEA
  • Prefer mechanical and electrical engineering experience, including inspection methods and manufacturing techniques
  • Prefer MS or PhD in statistics with exceptional programming skill in R
  • Prefer experience performing complex statistical analyses
