About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support execution of the safety strategy to meet program milestones and integrate system safety features into products in compliance with contracts and awarded funding
- Support the program schedule and integrate system safety tasks and activities into the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS)
- Engage the Lead System Safety Engineer and Portfolio Engineering Lead for technical guidance, artifact review, and customer reviews
- Support multi-IPT program meetings and address program-wide system safety issues
- Ensure program leadership understands system safety requirements, hazards, and planned mitigations
- Analyze engineering software and/or firmware according to MIL-STD-882E, JSSSEH, AOP-52, and other relevant standards
- Work with software development teams to review and analyze embedded software code
- Participate in the Software System Safety Program
- Interface with customers, program offices, subcontractors, and vendors
- Assist with Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for customer approval
- Assist with software safety technical reviews
- Interpret system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards
- Collaborate across disciplines to understand product architecture and design
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- Less than 2 years of prior relevant experience
- Experience with systems, software or test engineering
- U.S. citizenship required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance
- Active and existing DoD Secret security clearance required after day 1
- Preferred: Experience performing MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses, including task series 100, 200, 300, and 400
- Preferred: Experience preparing internal and customer reports describing analyses relevant to the System Safety program
- Preferred: Experience writing technical reports and presentations
- Preferred: Experience reviewing software code and requirements for safety considerations
- Preferred: Experience collaborating across multiple disciplines
- Preferred: Experience interfacing with Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Hardware Engineering
- Preferred: Experience managing Working Groups
