About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide engineering support for development engine tests and functional validation across Commercial, Military, and Industrial P&W product lines
- Focus on engine systems functional understanding, learning, and validation using analytical tools and test data acquisition
- Create test and analysis plans
- Coordinate instrumentation requirements
- Develop pre-test predictions
- Develop test procedures and methods
- Provide onsite and remote test coverage
- Manage and validate test data
- Perform first-pass post-test data analysis
- Prepare test reports and documentation for propulsion systems tests and functional validation
- Participate in discipline improvement activities and knowledge management
- Interact and integrate with EDSI Systems Analysis Groups, Module Centers, Controls, Instrumentation, IT, and Product Validation Groups
- Complete three Engineering Development Program rotations over the first 2.5 years, typically in three distinct disciplines
- Develop understanding of engine systems, including aero/functional, mechanical, and engine control
- Develop complex test procedures ranging from normal operation to significantly off-schedule conditions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or Engineering Science & Technology obtained by start date
- Experience in a mechanical / aero test environment or engine data analysis
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- U.S. citizenship is required
- Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects
- Previous engineering internship experience preferred
- Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience preferred
- Travel, off-shift, and weekend work when necessary
- Some travel to engine test sites and customer / partner sites
- 1st shift position with occasional off-shift work when needed
