About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a member of the Tempcover Leadership Team, providing strategic and financial support and challenge to the CEO and leadership team
  • Lead the Tempcover finance team of six, including responsibility for financial reporting and analysis, management accounting, payroll, VAT, and accounts payable and receivable
  • Oversee financial accounting and reporting, including tax, statutory reporting, group reporting, and relationships with banks, auditors, and professional advisers
  • Collaborate with Zephyr’s Group Finance team
  • Own planning and forecasting and guide the Commercial Finance business partner
  • Oversee Risk and Compliance, including FCA reporting, enterprise risk management, and adherence to Consumer Duty standards
  • Lead legal and contractual governance, manage external counsel, and ensure commercial agreements align with risk appetite and regulatory obligations
  • Support the CEO on ad hoc strategic projects
  • Report directly to the Tempcover CEO
  • Provide strategic partnership and insight to the CEO and act as a critical partner to senior leaders across Marketing, Underwriting, Tech/Product, and People

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Blend of technical rigour and commercial curiosity, preferably working in a fast-paced environment within the Tech industry
  • Proven track record of leading Finance teams’ day-to-day operations in operational and commercial finance
  • Experience delivering core financial processes and providing commercial support to business leaders
  • Experience as a people leader beyond Finance and partnering with wider business teams
  • Strong communication, influencing, and people skills
  • Ability to balance rigour and urgency and operate at both strategic and detailed levels
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, prioritise multiple or changing workstreams, and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and full accountability for tasks
  • Ability to translate complex financial and regulatory requirements into actionable strategy
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to create concise, effective presentations
