About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Communicate the Firm’s vision and capabilities to the marketplace
- Engage clients and prospects consultatively to provide customized solutions
- Expand and cross-sell within client relationships
- Research, initiate, and develop new business relationships by targeting qualified prospects
- Partner with a small team of Client Services Directors and Principal
- Assist with business development pursuits involving existing clients and prospects
- Meet with prospects and clients regarding potential engagements
- Identify, research, and pursue prospects and clients to generate new business
- Make cold calls and maintain contact through telephone and email
- Build and maintain key prospect and client relationships
- Attend local and national business development meetings
- Develop responses to engagement letters, MSAs, agreements, and proposals
- Maintain a deep understanding of the Firm’s service offerings and alliance partners’ products and service lines
- Use Internet tools such as OneSource to uncover opportunities
- Monitor timely service delivery and adherence to Client Service Principles
- Anticipate client issues and needs proactively
- Maintain entries in the Prospect Register and/or Salesforce.com
- Coordinate sales efforts and joint-selling activities with Client Services and Service Delivery teams
- Stay current on tax issues that may create sales opportunities
- Generate documentation to assist in deal closing, including presentations and engagement letters
- Understand business issues and commercial drivers, and recognize operational improvement, risk, and re-engineering opportunities
- Assist with other projects and duties as needed
- Provide limited supervision for the Business Development Department, including training employees, assigning work, and checking work for accuracy and completeness
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong business development experience

- Ability to multi-task within a business development team, work with urgency under pressure, and prioritize effectively
- Willingness to accept direction and instruction
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience including Business Development
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
- Experience with document management systems such as Microsoft SharePoint, Google Drive, Dropbox, or eFileCabinet
- Experience with ERP systems such as Workday, PeopleSoft, Oracle, or SAP
- CRM experience in entering, reviewing, and reporting sales information, using systems such as Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, OnContact, or NetSuite
- Valid driver’s license required
- Independent travel requirement: 50%+
