About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Communicate the Firm’s vision and capabilities to the marketplace
  • Engage clients and prospects consultatively to provide customized solutions
  • Expand and cross-sell within existing client relationships
  • Research, initiate, and develop new business relationships with qualified prospects
  • Partner with Client Services Directors and Principal on business development pursuits
  • Meet with prospects and clients regarding potential engagements
  • Identify, research, and pursue prospects and clients to generate new business
  • Make cold calls and maintain contact through telephone and email
  • Build and maintain key prospect and client relationships
  • Attend local and national business development meetings
  • Develop responses to engagement letters, MSAs, agreements, and proposals
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the Firm’s service offerings and alliance partners’ products and service lines
  • Use Internet tools such as OneSource to uncover opportunities
  • Monitor timely service delivery and adherence to Client Service Principles
  • Anticipate client issues and needs proactively
  • Maintain entries in the Prospect Register and/or Salesforce.com
  • Coordinate sales efforts and joint-selling activities with Client Services and Service Delivery teams
  • Stay current on tax issues that may create sales opportunities
  • Generate documentation to assist in deal closing
  • Understand business issues and commercial drivers, and recognize operational improvement, risks, and re-engineering opportunities
  • Provide limited supervision for the Business Development Department, including training employees, assigning work, and checking work
  • Assist with other projects and duties as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience including Business Development
  • Strong business development experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional demeanor and people-oriented approach
  • Ability to multi-task within a business development team, work with urgency under pressure, and prioritize effectively
  • Willingness to accept direction and instruction
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Experience with document management systems such as Microsoft SharePoint, Google Drive, Dropbox, or eFileCabinet
  • Experience with ERP systems for entering time and billing information, such as Workday, PeopleSoft, Oracle, or SAP
  • CRM experience in entering, reviewing, and reporting sales information, such as Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, OnContact, or NetSuite
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Independent travel requirement: 50%+
