About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist clients in identifying and claiming SR&ED tax credits
- Assist the SR&ED Director in defending credits during Canada Revenue Agency reviews
- Work on project-based engagements, including onsite work at client facilities
- Research tax law
- Document expense treatment
- Complete detailed models and calculations
- Collaborate with technical advisors to develop SR&ED claim preparation tools
- Assist with client presentations for proposals, planning strategies, and ideas
- Assist in developing project work plans and scheduling deliverables
- Interview clients to identify eligible projects and information required for T661 filings
- Advise and support clients before and during CRA technical reviews
- Respond to CRA correspondence regarding technology aspects of SR&ED claims
- Prepare technical narratives for SR&ED tax credit claims
- Identify eligible employees, subcontractors, materials, and related effort
- Ensure claims are prepared, approved, and filed with CRA within 45 days of the initial technical meeting
- Record client interviews and save recordings in the central file service
- Gather samples of supporting client documents
- Participate in sales and business development meetings
- Track time by client and activity codes
- Train peers and check work for accuracy and completeness as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Petroleum-Oil & Gas, or related disciplines) or Science (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, or related discipline)
- Related industry experience
- Minimum four years of SR&ED tax credit experience
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Strong communication skills
- Willingness to learn and be a team player
- Proficiency in Microsoft® Excel
- Working knowledge of Microsoft® Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research
- Valid driver's license required
- Willingness and ability to travel independently 0 to 10%
