About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and deliver projects helping clients identify, document, calculate, and secure Federal and state income tax incentives
- Manage key project workstreams and analyze financial and technical data
- Conduct tax research and support audit defense
- Prepare and review technical deliverables, memorandums, interview reports, and tax incentive calculations
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and manage expectations throughout engagements
- Lead client interviews and participate in meetings to present findings, methodologies, and tax positions
- Provide coaching, mentoring, technical guidance, and on-the-job training to Consultants
- Review Consultant work for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project standards
- Gather, organize, and analyze financial, technical, engineering, and operational data
- Create or review complex calculation models and databases
- Analyze engineering documentation, construction drawings, and qualifying design activities for tax incentive compliance
- Support and potentially lead IRS and state audit defense activities
- Collaborate with Federal Income Tax, International Tax, and other Ryan practice groups
- Develop and support client proposals, planning strategies, and deliverable presentations
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and contribute to process improvement
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction-related fields
- Four-year college degree from an accredited institution in a practice-relevant area
- 3+ years practice-relevant experience
- Strong understanding of tax knowledge pertaining to the 179D tax deduction and various sustainability/clean energy incentives
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Strong communication, analytical, writing, and project coordination skills
- Willingness to learn and be a team player
- Proven ability to manage workstreams, lead client interactions, and review team deliverables
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft® Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, and web-based research tools
- Valid driver’s license required
- Familiarity with legal/technical tax research platforms preferred
- Ability to communicate with C-suite, CPA, Principal, and Professional Architecture/Engineers on industry-specific topics
- Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management background/degree a strong plus
