About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Direct, implement, manage, coordinate, oversee, and supervise legal matters relating to Ryan Legal Services
- Work with the President to manage staffing, licensing, legal service performance, ethical compliance, client engagement and representation, and co-counsel engagements
- Provide legal expertise where needed
- Hire, train, and manage legal staff
- Provide professional guidance and direction to Legal department direct reports
- Develop client engagement forms, tools, and communication methods
- Participate in marketing training with service delivery professionals
- Draft, send, receive, record, and track prospective and client engagement agreements
- Develop marketing programs and websites with Ryan professionals
- Provide legal analysis and advice to third party Ryan clients
- Supervise attorneys and paralegals providing legal services to outside clients
- Oversee tax domain services including property tax, transaction tax, severance tax, and federal taxes
- Represent clients in tax appeal matters, including negotiations, appeals, lawsuits, and client approvals
- Engage co-counsel for local services and supervise their work
- Supervise professional tax training and state professional licensing compliance
- Directly supervise Paralegals and Associate Attorneys
Requirements
What you’ll need- Four-year bachelor's degree
- Juris doctorate from an accredited law school
- One-year master’s degree in taxation or equivalent
- At least twenty years’ experience as a practicing tax attorney
- Active member of the State Bar of Arizona
- No character or fitness violations from any state bar association or supreme court
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft® Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research
- License to practice law in the State of Arizona required
- Membership to the American Bar Association preferred
- Willingness to work non-standard hours to accommodate global time zones as needed
