About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work with a team to identify financial assistance, tax savings, and incentive-related opportunities for clients
  • Assist large United States companies with maximizing economic development incentives during domestic capital expansions
  • Correspond with client management to secure information needed to maximize incentives
  • Research issues and identify state and local economic development programs
  • Determine prospective incentive benefits for capital projects
  • Assist Manager in developing project workplans and scheduling project deliverables
  • Prepare presentations, summaries, schedules, and documentation for negotiations with state and local governments
  • Travel to client locations to gather relevant data and process information
  • Review and reconcile client data downloads and identify tax issues for research
  • Respond to client inquiries and requests from local and state economic development agencies
  • Research credit and incentive programs, including statutes, rules, regulations, and proposed legislation
  • Travel to government offices to assist with incentive negotiations
  • Prepare applications and amended returns for credits and incentives
  • Draft petitions for redetermination, refund claims, and administrative replies
  • Perform detailed calculations of credit and incentive benefits
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Business Administration, and/or Economics/Finance
  • Two to four years economic development, consulting, or tax related experience
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Limited supervisory responsibilities, including training employees, assigning work, and checking work for accuracy and completeness
  • Standard indoor working environment
  • Occasional long periods of sitting while working at computer
  • Regular interaction with employees and clients both in person and via e-mail and telephone
  • Willing to consider more junior-level candidates depending on skill set and experience
  • Individuals with government experience in compliance and data-driven roles can be good prospects
