About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist clients in identifying and claiming SR&ED tax credits
- Assist the SR&ED Director in defending credits during CRA reviews
- Work on project-based engagements, including time onsite at client facilities with engineers and technical personnel
- Research tax law, document expense treatment, and complete detailed models and calculations
- Interview clients to identify eligible SR&ED projects and information for T661 filings
- Prepare technical narratives for SR&ED tax credit claims
- Identify employees, subcontractors, and materials connected to eligible activities and determine related effort
- Ensure claims are prepared, approved, signed, and filed with CRA within 45 days of the initial technical meeting
- Advise and support clients during CRA technical reviews and respond to CRA correspondence
- Record client interviews and save recordings in Ryan’s central file service
- Gather samples of client supporting documents
- Participate in sales and business development meetings
- Collaborate with technical advisors to develop SR&ED claim preparation tools
- Track time by client and activity codes
- Assist with client presentations, proposal strategies, and ideas
- Assist in developing project work plans and scheduling deliverables
- May train peers and check work for accuracy and completeness
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Petroleum, or related disciplines) or Science (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, or all Disciplines)
- Related industry experience
- Minimum two years of SR&ED tax credit experience
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Strong communication skills
- Willingness to learn and be a team player
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research
- Valid driver's license required
