About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead complex indirect tax technology implementations from project initiation through deployment and post-go-live support
- Oversee ERP integration, tax engine deployment, business process transformation, requirements gathering, solution and process design, configuration, testing, cutover, and hypercare
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, staffing, financial performance, and risks across multiple concurrent engagements
- Serve as a trusted advisor to client tax, finance, accounting, and IT stakeholders
- Review functional specifications, testing documentation, and client deliverables
- Lead, coach, and develop consulting professionals through technical guidance, performance management, training, and career development
- Oversee project staffing, resource planning, workload distribution, and utilization
- Establish implementation methodologies, quality standards, and delivery best practices
- Support recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, proposals, client presentations, engagement planning, and business development
- Provide technical leadership for ERP integrations, tax engine implementations, and custom tax automation solutions
- Promote automation, analytics, and artificial intelligence to improve delivery and client outcomes
- Support practice growth through thought leadership, strategic initiatives, vendor relationships, and knowledge sharing
- Directly supervise team members as assigned
- Travel approximately 15–25% to client sites, Ryan offices, and industry events
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree or Master's degree from a four-year college or university
- Minimum of seven to ten years of experience providing indirect tax automation and implementation services
- Experience leading multiple full-cycle enterprise software implementations from requirements gathering through production deployment and post-go-live support
- Extensive knowledge of Vertex O Series or OneSource Determination
- Extensive ERP knowledge specific to tax determination and finance
- Experience with SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA, including SD, MM, and FI modules
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Experience with enterprise systems, databases, reporting tools, project management platforms, or business applications
- Strong project and program management skills
- Experience leading multiple end-to-end implementations of Vertex O Series or OneSource Determination integrated with SAP ECC or SAP S/4HANA
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and executive-level communication skills
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence client and internal stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to coach and develop consulting professionals
- Experience working for a consulting firm, tax software provider, or systems integrator is strongly preferred
- CPA or PMP designation is a plus
- Professional certifications such as PMP, Agile/Scrum, Lean/Six Sigma, CPA, SAP, Vertex, or OneSource are preferred
- Valid driver's license may be required, depending on role assignment
- Ability to travel periodically to client sites, Ryan offices, and industry events
