About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Take end-to-end responsibility for client finance operations, from daily transactional work and reconciliations through month-end close, management reporting, and process improvement
  • Process accounts payable, supplier payments, creditor reconciliations, accounts receivable, collections, and debtor reconciliations
  • Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations across multiple accounts and entities
  • Process and reconcile payroll in coordination with Australian payroll requirements, including STP reporting
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records
  • Perform month-end close procedures, including accruals, prepayments, and journal entries
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide commentary on financial performance
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow monitoring
  • Improve finance processes, controls, reporting workflows, and efficiency
  • Contribute to finance automation and AI-assisted projects
  • Work with Xero, MYOB, NetSuite, and modern cloud-based finance platforms
  • Support BAS and IAS preparation
  • Assist with payroll tax calculations, reconciliations, and state-based lodgements across Australian jurisdictions
  • Support superannuation compliance, including SGC calculations and reconciliations
  • Prepare supporting workpapers, reconciliations, and schedules
  • Work directly with Australian finance managers, CFOs, business owners, and leadership teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • Part qualified or currently studying toward CA Sri Lanka, CPA Australia, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent
  • Minimum two years' experience in a broad accounting or finance operations role
  • Exposure to Australian, UK, or international accounting standards is advantageous but not essential
  • Comfortable working across the full finance function, from transactional processing through management reporting
  • Interest in technology, automation, and AI in finance
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Excel skills
