About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead ongoing improvement engineering tasks and capital improvement projects assigned by the Manager-Process Engineering
  • Work with Operations, Quality, Facilities, and Maintenance to identify, measure, analyze, improve, and control feeder plant operations
  • Initiate projects from contracts, proposals, and cost budgets
  • Assist with order setup and document projects in systems of record
  • Assemble project teams and assign responsibilities
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure work follows project plans, contracts, and company requirements
  • Create and maintain project plans defining scope, deliverables, roles, responsibilities, budgets, and quality gates
  • Create and maintain detailed project schedules
  • Deliver stakeholder status updates using appropriate communication methods
  • Schedule, lead, and participate in project meetings
  • Facilitate communication, document meeting notes, update project plans, and follow up on actions
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Evaluate project success against objectives and customer expectations
  • Lead stakeholders through change management
  • Monitor and control project financials
  • Report regularly to leadership and prepare financial forecasts

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS/BA degree in project management or engineering
  • 5+ years of project management experience in a customer-facing role within the electric power industry
  • Project Management Professional Certification or MPM
  • Required to travel up to 40%, including overnight and international travel from time to time
  • Willingness to work extended hours when necessary
  • Experience managing a large portfolio of complex projects to successful delivery
  • Experience using project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Asana, or similar systems
  • Ability to create detailed project plans, define scope, establish timelines and milestones, and manage project finances and budgets
  • Customer service orientation
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to coordinate internal and external resources and manage multiple deadlines
  • Interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, listening, and presentation communication skills
  • Business acumen, critical thinking, analytical, and data-analysis skills
  • Financial acumen to manage project budgets and finances

  • Experience planning and executing customer-facing projects involving medium/high-voltage utility-scale electrical equipment and services
  • Prior experience working for an electrical equipment manufacturer preferred
  • Prior experience with medium-voltage data center equipment application, installation, testing, and commissioning preferred
  • Ability to complete and maintain required training and certifications
  • Ability to work in Chicago, Illinois, in an on-site office environment within a manufacturing facility, with occasional project work at utility, commercial, industrial, and government facilities
