About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support an Illinois Health and Human Services engagement
  • Understand current business processes, build process flows, and identify and define areas for improvement
  • Evaluate new processes based on data analysis
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements
  • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
  • Create business requirements, functional specifications, and process maps
  • Coordinate with business units to ensure compliance with regulations and standards
  • Acquire, organize, and analyze data from primary and secondary sources
  • Identify trends and patterns in complex data sets
  • Build and maintain reports and dashboards in Power BI and other reporting tools
  • Present findings to non-technical audiences
  • Review, filter, and clean data; locate and correct data problems
  • Work with IT and business teams to design and implement solutions
  • Determine solutions for technical problems
  • Develop and execute test plans
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing and address issues
  • Build PowerPoint training modules, job aids, and supporting materials
  • Keep training content current as processes change
  • Facilitate meetings, presentations, and workshops with business and IT stakeholders
  • Use SharePoint, SharePoint Lists, and Teams to organize and track work
  • Organize and manage complex work efforts
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 5-10 years of combined experience as a Data Analyst and as a Business Analyst
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting tools such as Business Objects and SQL
  • Experience with reporting tools such as Power BI and the ability to present findings
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Technical expertise with data models, database design and development, and data mining techniques
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate large amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to filter and clean data and to locate and correct code problems
  • Experience building training modules in PowerPoint for business processes
  • Proficiency with SharePoint, SharePoint Lists, and Teams
  • Practical experience with the Microsoft tools suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint)
  • Experience working in a State Government office with Health and Human Services data is preferred
  • Experience with IT development practices, including software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies
  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or equivalent certification is a plus
  • Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst certification is a plus
