About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute structural engineering projects ranging in scope and scale
- Prepare structural calculations and construction documents
- Design lateral and gravity systems
- Provide modeling and drafting direction
- Perform quality control on own work
- Provide technical options and escalate issues requiring direction
- Develop and execute sprint plan activities
- Create and communicate approach plans to the Project Manager
- Document deliverable tasks and estimate hours
- Communicate roadblocks and reconcile plans with the project team
- Manage construction administration activities and report to the Technical Lead
- Maintain and update the construction administration log
- Draft RFI responses for Project Manager approval
- Review shop drawings and present them to the Project Manager
- Identify scope creep concerns
- Perform site visits
- Manage client coordination through meetings, calls, and email
- Coordinate drawing development with technical staff
- Communicate project updates
- Participate in continuous improvement activities
- Pursue continuing education
- Contribute to material groups and improve standards and best practices
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree required
- 3+ years of experience in the structural design of concrete, steel, masonry, and wood frame structures
- Ability to prepare structural calculations and construction documents meeting quality standards
- Ability to design lateral and gravity systems
- Ability to provide modeling and drafting direction
- MS degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management preferred, with structural engineering preferred
- Professional Engineer certification preferred
- Willingness to travel 10–15%
