About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Maintain a clean facility by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming floors
Clean and disinfect surfaces, furniture, walls, machines, equipment, windows, glass partitions, mirrors, restrooms, vents, blinds, and light fixtures
Follow procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment
Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment manually or with hand trucks
Remove stains using chemicals and cleaning solutions
Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors
Apply spot-cleaning treatments to carpeted areas
Gather and empty trash and recycling
Clean and supply restrooms
Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding for events
Keep the janitor’s closet neat and maintain equipment in good working order
Requisition cleaning and maintenance supplies and equipment
Monitor building security and safety, including locking doors after operating hours
Notify managers about needed repairs or additions to building operations
Maintain effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, shift coordinators, supervisors, and managers
Comply with company, client, and regulatory safety, security, compliance, and quality standards
Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned
Work Monday–Friday with variable start and end times

Requirements

What you’ll need

Must be 18 years of age or older
Must pass appropriate background checks
Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 40 lbs.
Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach
Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations
Ability to move quickly and efficiently within various work environments
Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity
Clear vision, with or without correction, while wearing safety glasses
Ability to differentiate between color-coded warning signs, labels, and cables
Ability to work across a wide range of indoor temperatures
Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, rain, or snow
Ability to work in elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protection
Valid driver’s license for work-related travel, as required
Customer service experience preferred
1 year of similar work experience preferred
