About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Complete tasks assigned by the Data Center Manager
Report conditions affecting building services, tenant comfort, or safety
Operate, maintain, and modify critical-environment building systems
Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, cabling, fire/life-safety, lighting, building-management, and digital systems
Conduct periodic building-systems inspections and maintain clean, safe mechanical equipment rooms
Respond to, investigate, and manage indoor emergencies and air-quality complaints
Create, close, track, and follow up on work requests and work orders
Monitor service contractors and recommend changes
Deliver colocation, telecommunications, and additional data-center services
Serve as a focal point for customers, vendors, and carriers regarding colocation, connectivity, and network services
Support internal networks, IT infrastructure, computers, electronics, and telephone systems
Install IT and network hardware, run patch cables, and verify or test cable paths
Coordinate third-party access and work related to structured cabling, circuit delivery, and equipment installations
Support offsite points of presence and network infrastructure operations, administration, and maintenance
Perform other related duties assigned by management

Requirements

What you’ll need

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Superior observation and problem-solving skills
Valid driver's license
Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment up to 40 lbs
Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs
Ability to stand for long periods
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach
Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergencies
Ability to move quickly and efficiently through work environments
Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity
Clear vision, with or without correction
Ability to differentiate color-coded warning signs, labels, and cables
Ability to work across a wide range of indoor temperatures
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Ability to work in elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protection
