About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Complete operation, maintenance, and modification tasks for critical-environment building systems
- Report conditions affecting building services, tenant comfort, or safety to the Data Center Manager
- Maintain mechanical, electrical, cabling, fire detection and suppression, life safety, lighting, temperature control, building management, and digital systems
- Complete planned and ad-hoc preventive maintenance assignments across engineering, mechanical, and maintenance trades
- Conduct periodic building systems inspections and maintain mechanical equipment rooms in clean and safe conditions
- Respond to, investigate, and manage indoor emergencies and air quality complaints
- Create, close, track, initiate, and follow up on work requests and work orders
- Monitor service contractors and recommend changes as necessary
- Deliver colocation, telecommunications, and additional data center services
- Serve as a focal point for customers, vendors, and carriers regarding colocation, connectivity, and network products and services
- Support internal networks, IT infrastructure, computers, electronics, and telephone systems
- Install IT and network hardware, run or make patch cables, and verify or test cable paths
- Coordinate and oversee third-party access and work involving structured cabling, circuit delivery, and equipment installations
- Support offsite points-of-presence and assist with infrastructure, network equipment, and network service operations, administration, and maintenance
- Perform other related duties assigned by management
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Superior observation and problem-solving skills
- Driver’s License
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 40lbs
- Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs to access elevated equipment
- Ability to stand for long periods of time in various work environments
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for equipment-related tasks
- Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations and navigate areas quickly
- Ability to move quickly and efficiently within various work environments to troubleshoot issues or respond to emergencies
- Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for working with small components and connectors
- Clear vision, with or without correction, while wearing safety glasses
- Ability to differentiate between color-coded warning signs, labels, and cables
- Ability to work in environments with a wide variety of temperatures inside a facility
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, or snow
- Capability to work in environments with elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protection
- Possession of a valid driver’s license for work-related travel, as required
