About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform echocardiography tests and procedures according to American Society of Echocardiography standards
- Prepare patients by explaining procedures, transferring them to the ultrasound table, applying gel, and positioning them
- Operate ultrasound equipment to produce and record images of blood, organs, tissues, and bodily masses
- Perform echocardiograms and provide oral and/or written preliminary technical findings to interpreting physicians
- Operate ultrasound machines and use new sonographic technologies as needed
- Perform routine cardiac ultrasound procedures in clinics, hospitals, and mobile sites
- Travel to various regional sites as a regional mobile sonographer based out of East Grand Forks
- Assist with IAC accreditation submissions and maintenance when necessary
- Supervise or train students and cardiac sonographers as needed
- Follow Sanford safety, infection control, and internal standards and procedures
- Perform ultrasonography where responsibilities are expanded based on the facility
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate from an accredited two-year Cardiac Ultrasound Program required when working or hired in South Dakota
- For North Dakota: graduate from an accredited school of cardiac sonography program or one year work experience in cardiac sonography preferred; on-the-job training may be considered with appropriate leadership approval, with an allied health certificate/diploma in an imaging modality required for consideration
- For Minnesota: graduate from an accredited two-year Cardiac Ultrasound Program OR a bachelor’s degree and one year equivalent work experience required
- For all other states: minimum of one year equivalent work experience or an allied health certificate/diploma required
- ARDMS, CCI, or registry eligibility required within 12 months in South Dakota
- ARRT, ARDMS, CCI, or registry eligibility required within 18 months of hire in all other states
- North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board licensure required when performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures in North Dakota
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record required for employees providing outreach mobile services
- Must comply with Sanford category driver's license policy and medical guidelines when applicable
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required
- Ability to travel to assigned regional sites, including passenger flights and occasional overnight stays
- Must adhere to safety, infection control, and HIPPA standards
