About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist patients/residents/clients with therapy activities and exercises scheduled in a treatment plan under the supervision of an occupational therapist
- Provide, monitor, and record therapy services for patients/residents/clients with physical, cognitive, developmental, and psychosocial impairments
- Select, implement, and modify therapeutic activities and interventions consistent with competency levels, patient goals, and practice-setting/state-licensure requirements
- Exchange information with and provide documentation to the occupational therapist about patient responses and communications during intervention
- Provide information and documentation related to occupational therapy outcome achievement
- Follow accepted clinical practice guidelines of the professional organization
- Depending on location and facility needs, work in post-acute, long-term care, and home health care environments
- Perform other related duties as requested
Requirements
What you’ll need- Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure
- Must be licensed as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state(s) of practice
- When working at a Sanford Health Facility, must also be certified as an Occupational Therapy Assistant through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT); certification is not required but preferred for GSS Facilities
- Conforms to the supervision and licensing standards of the state(s) where services are provided
- When applicable, may require valid driver's license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six months of employment
