About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance in long-term care under RN supervision
- Assist with bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, vital signs, psychosocial support, and personal care
- Transfer, reposition, and walk residents using appropriate techniques and equipment
- Provide range-of-motion and passive exercises
- Complete food preparation and dining tasks
- Assist residents with meals, snacks, water, and supplements
- Aid providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed
- Document resident interactions and outcomes related to care, behavior, activity, and dietary needs
- Communicate residents' changing conditions and care concerns to the charge nurse
- Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs
- Provide housekeeping and laundry services
- Assist with wellness and recreational programs and encourage resident participation
- Participate in departmental or organizational committees and task forces as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum age of 16
- Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state-certified CNA within four months of starting by enrolling in a training program or obtaining certification through endorsement
- CNA training and certification required and provided by facility
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred
- High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required
- Satisfactory completion of yearly department-specific competency testing
- Minimum of 12 hours of continuing education annually
- Maintain all department-specific required certifications
- When applicable, certification and registration with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry
- May require a valid driver's license, motor vehicle report, and medical qualification to perform essential driving functions, depending on facility and responsibilities
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend and holiday
