About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as caregiver to residents during the scheduled work period in long-term care
- Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN)
- Provide bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, vital-sign collection and recording, psychosocial support, and personal care
- Assist residents with transferring, repositioning, walking, range-of-motion exercises, and passive exercises using appropriate techniques and equipment
- Complete food preparation and dining tasks and assist residents with meals, snacks, water, and supplements
- Aid providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed
- Document resident interactions and outcomes related to care, behavior, activity, and dietary needs
- Communicate residents' changing conditions and care concerns to the charge nurse
- Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs
- Provide housekeeping and laundry services
- Assist with wellness and recreational programs and encourage resident participation
- Participate in departmental or organization committees and task forces as needed
- Follow infection prevention, control policies, and Personal Protective Equipment procedures
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum age of 16
- Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement
- CNA training and certification required and provided by facility
- Satisfactorily completes yearly department specific competency testing
- Maintains a record of continuing education credits; a minimum of 12 hours continuing education are required annually
- Maintains all department specific required certifications
- When applicable, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry
- Must be medically qualified to perform essential driving functions when the role classifies as a Sanford Category II Driver
- Must provide a motor vehicle report and proof of valid driver's license when applicable
- Must be open to working day, evening, night, and weekend shifts
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required
