About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work collaboratively with Infection Prevention and Control staff under leadership to accomplish Infection Prevention program goals and objectives
- Evaluate infection control trends and practices
- Provide educational programs for employees
- Conduct surveillance of healthcare-associated infections and reportable illness
- Evaluate and report statistical information
- Consult on asepsis, disinfection, sterilization, isolation, disease transmission, and related issues
- Monitor compliance standards, regulations, strategies, and evidence-based practices
- Evaluate and improve patient/resident outcomes
- Assist with research needs and assigned special projects
- Use computer programs and applications for data collection and analysis
- Collaborate with operational teams and continuously evaluate current processes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree required
- In lieu of education, an Associate’s degree and 5 years of applicable experience may be considered
- Minimum of two years experience in a clinical, nursing, healthcare safety, infection prevention, accreditation, or healthcare management setting required
- Basic understanding and working knowledge of microbiology and epidemiology
- Understanding of or willingness to learn computer programs and applications for data collection and analysis
- Good interpersonal skills
- Willingness to seek out new information and knowledge
- Ability to think critically and problem solve effectively
- Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC®) or equivalent preferred
- If degree is in nursing, graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred
- If a licensed registered nurse (RN), currently hold an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where practice occurs and/or possess multistate licensure if in an NLC state
- Obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications
