About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long-term care under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician
- Apply nursing principles and age- and population-specific standards according to each resident’s care plan
- Perform testing to evaluate data reflective of residents’ status and provide needed care
- Ensure residents’ health, comfort, and safety
- Contribute to resident assessments and administer medications or treatments as ordered
- Provide technical support to healthcare professionals as needed
- Document resident interactions and outcomes related to care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary needs
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents, healthcare providers, and the public
- Counsel residents, family members, and/or resident advocates under clinical direction on prevention and treatment plans
- Develop self-care programs based on resident education principles
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse
- Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred
- If position requires IV therapy/management skills in North Dakota: graduation from a Board approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing
- Pre-licensure nursing program including supervised clinical experience across the life span, or a minimum of 400 hours of experience as an LPN at another facility
- Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board and/or possesses multi-state licensure privileges
- Maintains required department-specific competencies and certifications
- Completes required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements
- Ability to recognize problems, recommend solutions, and respond effectively in emergent situations
- Ability to communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team
