About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long-term care under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician
- Apply nursing principles and age- and population-specific standards according to each resident's care plan
- Perform testing to evaluate data reflecting residents' status and provide needed care
- Recognize problems, recommend solutions, and respond effectively in emergent situations
- Ensure residents' health, comfort, and safety
- Contribute to resident assessments and administer ordered medications or treatments
- Provide technical support to healthcare professionals
- Document resident interactions and outcomes related to care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary needs
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with residents, healthcare providers, and the public
- Work as part of an interdisciplinary care team
- Communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Counsel residents, family members, and/or resident advocates under clinical supervision on prevention and treatment plans
- Develop self-care programs using resident education principles
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse
- Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges
- Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span, or have a minimum of 400 hours of experience as an LPN at another facility
- If position requires IV therapy/management skills in North Dakota: graduation from a Board-approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing
- Obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications
- Complete required annual CEU and competency training requirements
- Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred
