About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assess clients/patients/residents and design occupational therapy treatments
  • Conduct evaluations and provide interventions for functional, cognitive, or behavioral impairments
  • Evaluate physical, cognitive, developmental, and psychosocial abilities
  • Develop therapy goals and administer occupational therapy programs
  • Document evaluation information and establish or modify therapeutic plans
  • Educate clients/patients/residents to improve understanding and functional outcomes
  • Apply age-related treatments and evaluations
  • Incorporate current research into daily treatment
  • Treat individuals of all ages with varying diagnoses and disorders
  • Complete documentation in accordance with departmental guidelines and regulatory requirements
  • Follow accepted clinical practice guidelines
  • Adapt to variable work schedules and assignments
  • Participate in activities promoting the department, Good Samaritan Society, and Sanford Health
  • Interact with providers, case managers, family members, third-party payers, and public organizations
  • May supervise assistants, aides, and students
  • Provide ongoing education and training to peers in areas of expertise
  • Perform other related duties requested by the manager
  • Provide interventions in post-acute, long-term care, and home health environments depending on facility and location

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure
  • Must be licensed in the state(s) of practice as an Occupational Therapist
  • NBCOT certification required when working at a Sanford Health Facility; preferred for Good Samaritan Society facilities
  • Valid driver's license may be required, when applicable
  • Must obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment
  • Must meet applicable state licensure requirements
