About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Administer speech and language evaluations, tests, and examinations to diagnose and plan treatments for speech problems and swallowing disorders
- Assess speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing problems and develop individualized treatment plans
- Provide speech and language services and adjust treatments based on disease progression
- Instruct patients in speech and language therapeutic exercises
- Provide consultation throughout speech and language treatment processes
- Ensure compliance with standards, policies, protocols, quality requirements, documentation guidelines, and regulations
- Treat individuals of all ages with varying diagnoses and disorders
- Follow accepted clinical practice guidelines
- Work variable schedules and assignments
- Participate in department, Good Samaritan Society, and Sanford Health promotional activities
- Interact with providers, case managers, third-party payers, public organizations, and others
- Supervise assistants, aides, and students when requested
- Provide ongoing education and training to peers
- Perform other related duties as requested by the manager
- Focus on post-acute, long-term care, and home health care environments when applicable
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be licensed in the state(s) of practice as a Speech and Language Pathologist
- Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment
- Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications
- When applicable, may require valid driver's license
- Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by ASHA or currently working on Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) preferred for Sanford Health Facilities (not required but preferred by GSS Facilities)
