About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build comprehensive and complex financial models covering client companies’ operations, capital structure, working capital items, and full financial statements for LBOs, debt/equity raises, budgeting models, plant expansions, project finance, and roll-up strategies
- Develop financial analyses and data analyses providing actionable insight to management using data from accounting/finance, operational, HR, web databases, and other systems
- Run financial planning and analysis reports for mid-market companies, including budgeting models and variance analysis of actuals against budget
- Evaluate companies’ short- and long-term planning and assess financial performance, working capital management, and lending covenant obligations
- Structure, develop, manage, oversee, and implement dynamic spreadsheet tools based on client needs
- Conduct in-depth market, industry, and company research and develop decks and reports for business plans, business cases, valuations, and financial analyses
- Build automated KPI dashboards to identify business trends and support short- and long-term finance strategy
- Develop quality of earnings databooks and reports for companies undergoing M&A, normalizing earnings and providing assurance around claimed earnings
- Develop valuation models and reports, including en bloc equity valuations, complex financial instrument valuations, purchase price allocations, and analyses supporting M&A transactions and financial reporting
- Assist clients with financial accounting clean-up, including preparing journal entries for required accruals and supporting analyses
- Manage relationships for Top Clients, ensure satisfaction, and identify opportunities for additional services, with a focus on infrastructure, electricity and renewable energy, and healthcare industries
- Mentor and train team members in financial modelling, financial due diligence, and valuations
- Oversee and conduct quality control on Analysts’ work
- Assist with proposals, marketing materials, white papers, blogs, webinars, seminars, and dissemination of marketing materials as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (i.e., commerce, economics, business administration, computer science, mathematics, engineering, etc.) is required
- An educational background combining business and economics knowledge with a STEM background is highly desirable
- CFA, CBV, CPA designation or significant progress towards certification is highly desirable
- 2+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate finance, financial planning and analysis, public accounting, private equity, transaction advisory or investment banking, or related fields
- 1+ years experience working with private equity firms and portfolio companies of private equity firm
- 2+ years experience with modelling, due diligence, and/or valuations in the infrastructure, electricity and renewable energy, and healthcare industries
- Strong computer literacy with emphasis on advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Macabacus skills
- Knowledge of Power BI, SQL or MySQL databases, and programming (e.g., VBA, Python, etc.) is highly desirable
- Intellectual curiosity and passion for learning about new industries, new businesses, and new technical skills
- Ability to take ownership of responsibilities and see them through to completion
- Ability to work independently and manage time and multiple tasks/deadlines/deliverables at once
- Strong dedication to the team, clients, and excellent work ethic
- Experience with coaching junior staff and providing feedback is considered an asset
- Desire to contribute to the firm over the long haul, with the understanding that loyalty and hard work will be recognized in both compensation and responsibilities
