About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Coordinate import and export logistics activities via ocean, air, and truck from pickup through delivery
  • Monitor shipments from booking through delivery, maintain records, and resolve problems
  • Investigate problems, identify root causes, and develop solutions
  • Assess global logistics and transportation processes and coordinate improvements
  • Provide analytical support for projects, new business opportunities, and proposals
  • Assemble data, analyze performance, identify problems, and develop recommendations for global logistics and supply chain operations
  • Ensure transport capacity for production facilities and distribution centers
  • Monitor carrier and logistics service-provider contract compliance and customs requirements
  • Develop standard operating procedures and performance standards
  • Coordinate and communicate global logistics issues among service providers, Inside Sales, and Outside Sales
  • Evaluate logistics service-provider and mill shipping performance
  • Create and publish logistics performance reports
  • Coordinate with international logistics providers, customs brokers, customers, and union employees
  • Travel as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Studies or equivalent job-related experience
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with logistics and production planning concepts, including just-in-time and materials requirement planning
  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail
  • Broad computer skills including database, spreadsheet, statistics applications, and logistics software packages
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Understanding of transportation contracts and tariffs
  • Ability to communicate findings, make recommendations, and facilitate change
  • Ability to work with individuals at all organizational levels
  • Project management skills
