About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range
- Mentor and train less experienced design team members
- Coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements
- Prepare clear, concise reports and studies meeting client requirements and Sargent & Lundy formats
- Independently review others’ calculations, drawings, and PLS-CADD-based transmission line models
- Adhere to Sargent & Lundy's System of Processes
Requirements
What you’ll need- No employer sponsorship for work authorization in Canada
- Must be a citizen of a country listed in Appendix A to Part 810 of the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations if accessing U.S. export-controlled information
- BS degree from a Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board-accredited undergraduate program or a US-based ABET-accredited program
- 12 or more years of transmission design experience
- Proficiency with PLS-CADD software
- Experience preparing scopes of work, conceptual designs, design bases, equipment and material selections, calculations, and specifications
- Experience working directly with clients on transmission lines from 69kV through 500kV
- Knowledge of NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE, and ANSI engineering standards
- Experience reviewing design drawings created by others
- P.Eng license valued but not required
- PMP certification valued but not required
- Construction experience valued but not required
- Familiarity with ArcGIS valued but not required
- Experience with AI, automation, programming, or similar technologies valued but not required
