About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise discipline-specific construction managers and lead construction management and commissioning staff
  • Serve as construction subject matter expert and primary liaison among clients, subcontractors, vendors, internal teams, and business units
  • Manage client expectations and maintain client relationships through communication and timely updates
  • Oversee project cost, schedule, scope, quality, safety, and construction/commissioning progress
  • Manage and document change orders and assess their cost and schedule impacts
  • Develop project-specific construction and/or commissioning management work plans
  • Perform home-office or remote pre-construction planning before field mobilization
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans
  • Report construction progress and cost to the Project Director and/or Client
  • Lead and attend construction project performance review meetings
  • Develop schedules, phasing plans, and lookaheads; track progress and maintain schedules
  • Maintain current project documentation and daily reports
  • Collaborate with construction teams, engineers, subcontractors, and stakeholders to determine project needs and solve challenges
  • Review and oversee subcontractor and supplier contractual agreements
  • Handle disputes or claims arising from contract performance
  • Ensure projects remain on budget and profitable
  • Supervise field staff and provide constructive feedback
  • Resolve on-site issues and emergencies
  • Oversee project close-out, inspections, punch-list resolution, and documentation handover
  • Conduct post-project reviews and capture lessons learned
  • Ensure safe, clean, and orderly job sites in compliance with S&L standards
  • Verify installed work aligns with drawings, specifications, and contractual requirements; identify variances

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 20+ years of construction industry experience, with focus on full construction experience
  • Experience with advanced class combined cycle projects, environmental retrofit projects, and new generation combined heat and power projects preferred
  • Experience with EPC and GC contract models
  • 15+ years in progressive leadership roles supervising construction teams and managing clients, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Ability to communicate intentionally and clearly across multiple stakeholders, vendors, teammates, and business partners
  • Familiarity with industry regulations, industry codes & standards, and best practices related to power plant electrical operations, maintenance, and safety
  • Experience determining staff positions and size, interviewing, and selecting personnel
  • Construction labor knowledge and labor planning experience
  • Experience establishing and effectively using project controls tools to manage a large construction project
  • Understanding of a process approach to construction management and start-up testing work
  • Demonstrated client relationship-building experience
  • Knowledge of quality, safety, and health guidelines for sizeable industrial construction job sites
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Organizational and time-management skills
  • OSHA 10 or 30
  • Must be able to travel
  • Must not require U.S. work authorization sponsorship
