About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and market high-level, complex programs for nuclear power projects involving design, operational excellence, safety, maintenance, and project management
  • Direct technical decision-making in project teams designing, modifying, and analyzing new and existing power plant control systems, especially digital upgrades
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve instrumentation and controls engineering issues
  • Coordinate systems design activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and client requirements
  • Perform digital systems design development for PLC, DCS, HSI, and networked computer systems for nuclear plant systems
  • Prepare functional system requirement specifications, quality assessments, and critical digital reviews
  • Perform consulting-level work for digital IoT, innovation, and first-of-a-kind (FOAK) nuclear projects
  • Prepare and review scaling, uncertainty, and setpoint calculations for analog and digital controls applications
  • Prepare design-input documentation for drawing production, including cable block diagrams and schematics
  • Interface with vendors and prepare and review equipment purchase specifications
  • Prepare clear, concise technical reports and studies
  • Independently review calculations and drawings prepared by others
  • Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope and ensure client satisfaction
  • Support station outage activities as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • 20 or more years of experience in the design engineering of instrumentation and controls engineering systems in a project team environment for heavy industrial plants
  • Focus on integrated, detailed system design for new plants or replacements for existing plants
  • Technical knowledge of available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems for systems design
  • Experience reviewing design drawings created by others
  • U.S. work authorization; the employer does not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S.
  • Experience serving as a firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role is desirable
  • PE license is valued but not required
  • Broad background providing technical support to nuclear plant projects is valued but not required
  • Experience with AI, automation, programming, or similar technologies is valued but not required unless specifically identified elsewhere
