About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work in a project team environment with engineers and designers on the design, modification, and analysis of new and existing nuclear power plant electrical systems
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve electrical engineering issues
  • Prepare and review engineering design change packages for plant equipment installation, replacement, or upgrades
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, including AC/DC power studies, short circuit, cable ampacity, voltage drop, breaker coordination, motor starting, and protective relay settings
  • Prepare and review equipment procurement specifications
  • Participate in bid review evaluations and respond to vendor questions
  • Prepare and review conceptual design scoping documents and constructability reviews
  • Interface with Mechanical, Structural, Civil, and I&C disciplines
  • Interface with clients and vendors, including document reviews and written comments
  • Attend client meetings and site field walkdowns
  • Travel to client and vendor offices and plant sites for design reviews, construction coordination, and field verification
  • Support site installation activities during project implementation
  • Assist the project manager with project completion, schedule, and budget
  • Manage technical, financial, and administrative performance of the engineering scope
  • Define deliverables, review team status, track progress, submit reports, resolve issues, and coordinate deliverable completion

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • An electrical engineering degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program
  • 7 or more years’ experience in the design of electrical engineering systems in a project team environment for industrial applications, with a focus on design for existing nuclear power plants (preferred)
  • Experience in the selection of equipment, materials, and the preparation and assembling of engineering design change packages, calculations, and specifications
  • Experience with electrical system design including low and medium voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motor, relays, etc.)
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to convey information to project team members and client
  • Detail oriented approach to work
  • Capable of being badged for unescorted access to a nuclear power station
  • Must not require U.S. work authorization sponsorship
  • PE license (valued but not required)
  • MSEE (valued but not required)
