About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage and further grow a project team of engineers and designers working on new and existing high-voltage substations
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and implement solutions to expand and modernize the electric grid
- Direct the Team Lead in coordinating engineering and design from concept through detailed design execution, field support, and closeout
- Support account management and client engagement through peer-to-peer reporting, coordination, and conflict resolution
- Lead efforts to complete projects satisfactorily, on time, and within budget
- Coordinate and execute facility studies for various RTOs
- Coordinate systems design activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and client requirements
- Prepare clear, concise technical reports and studies meeting client requirements and Sargent & Lundy formats
- Independently review others’ work, including calculations and drawing preparation
Requirements
What you’ll need- BS from an ABET-accredited engineering program or an advanced management/business degree
- Specific hands-on experience with MISO facility studies and knowledge of the DPP process
- Specific experience in project management of utility transmission and distribution substation projects
- Knowledge of NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEC, IEEE, and ANSI engineering standards
- 20 or more years of experience designing multidisciplinary solutions in a project team environment for utility high-voltage substations
- Experience with electrical, civil, and structural scopes of work, conceptual development, industry best practices, design basis, equipment and materials selection, and construction package preparation
- Five or more years of experience leading an engineering design team through all phases of project design
- Technical knowledge of available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems for systems design
- Proven verbal and written communication skills for presentations, proposals, and reports
- Experience serving as a firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role
- Experience and understanding of construction documents
- Willingness to travel to project sites and/or attend client meetings
- Ability to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
- FE or PE License valued but not required
- PMP Certification valued but not required
- Construction and start-up experience a plus
- Commissioning experience a plus
