About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work in a project team environment with engineers and designers on detailed electrical design and project management of high-voltage substation projects
  • Participate in project conceptualization, work planning, and project execution
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve a wide variety of electrical engineering issues
  • Prepare clear and concise technical and project reports meeting client requirements and S&L formats
  • Develop professionally through peer learning and knowledge sharing in S&L Communities of Practice
  • Travel to client sites as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science Engineering degree required
  • 7 or more years experience in the design of Medium Voltage Power Systems
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints
  • Experience tracking project information such as schedules and expenditures against budgets, preparing status reports and client interface
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Experience reviewing design drawings created by others
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
  • U.S. work authorization required; employer does not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S.
  • Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering degree preferred, not required
  • Degree from an ABET accredited engineering program preferred, not required
  • 3 or more years experience in the design of substations 138kV and above valued but not required
  • Ability to prepare substation grounding calculations, direct stroke shielding calculations, battery & charger sizing calculations, etc. valued but not required
  • Physical layout and protection & controls experience valued but not required
  • Ability to work with Designer to develop substation single line diagrams, relaying & metering diagrams, DC schematic diagrams, substation plan & sections, grounding plans, etc. valued but not required
  • Familiarity with ANSI/IEEE/NEMA standards and the National Electrical Safety Code (ANSI–C2) valued but not required
  • PE license valued but not required
  • AutoCAD experience valued but not required
  • Experience with AI, automation, programming, or similar technologies valued where relevant but not required
