About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive product strategy across the SAS platform for high-performance data processing and model execution
  • Define and evolve product direction for technologies accelerating data access, transformation, and analytics execution across hybrid and cloud-native environments
  • Own SAS SpeedyStore and SAS Data Accelerator, supporting high-speed model scoring, code acceleration, SAS Visual Analytics acceleration, and model training
  • Lead strategy for integration with open file formats such as Parquet and Iceberg
  • Enable remote access to AWS S3, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Google Cloud Storage
  • Develop a platform product vision with software engineering teams
  • Craft detailed requirements for a robust and scalable product roadmap
  • Shape interoperability strategy with modern data platforms, lakehouse technologies, cloud storage services, and open-table formats
  • Define and maintain product roadmaps, priorities, and OKRs
  • Communicate product risks, decisions, and roadmap updates to stakeholders
  • Lead product requirements definition and prioritization using customer, stakeholder, prospect, and market input
  • Conduct discovery and translate findings into product strategy
  • Align Engineering, Design, UX, Program Management, and related teams to deliver customer and business outcomes
  • Define success measures and own post-launch analysis
  • Develop business cases and product investment recommendations using customer, market, financial, and product-health data
  • Help shape pricing, positioning, collateral, launch readiness, support readiness, and knowledge transfer
  • Represent the product externally with customers and prospects
  • Own product lifecycle management decisions
  • Identify emerging technologies, business threats, and new market opportunities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of experience in product management and/or software engineering related to data management, decision management, or AI/analytics
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in data science, computer science, or a related quantitative discipline
  • Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications
  • Solid working knowledge of modern data management
  • Experience with cloud databases including SingleStore, Snowflake, Google BigQuery, and Azure Synapse
  • Experience with Spark-based environments such as Databricks
  • Familiarity with open-source runtimes, packages, and libraries such as Python
  • Understanding of SaaS and/or PaaS business models
  • Familiarity with cloud platform provider technologies
  • Ability to translate complex technical and business information for diverse audiences
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Critical-thinking skills and demonstrated sound decision-making in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative, global environment across multiple business units
  • Ability to innovate and define creative solutions with compelling user experiences
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States or Scotland
  • Must not require now or in the future sponsorship for employment visa status
