About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and extend photorealistic digital twin environments in Unreal Engine 5
- Implement real-time simulation and visualization of industrial systems, robotic fleets and logistics operations
- Connect Unreal Engine visualizations to real-time telemetry, sensor inputs and machine learning output from SAS analytics pipelines
- Develop and optimize Blueprints and C++ modules for simulation logic, physical system behavior and user interaction
- Implement dynamic asset loading and level streaming
- Integrate and extend Unreal Engine plugins, including the SAS Connector and third-party plugins
- Profile, diagnose and resolve performance and stability issues using Unreal Insights and engine profiling tools
- Document performance and stability findings for the team
- Follow and improve pipeline management and version-control standards using Perforce and Plastic SCM
- Participate in open-source projects on behalf of SAS
- Follow applicable security policies and processes supporting secure software development goals
- Collaborate with IoT engineers, optimization experts, software architects, engineers, artists and analysts
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience developing interactive 3D applications with Unreal Engine
- Proficiency in both Blueprints and C++
- Experience taking at least one real-time 3D or simulation project from prototype through release
- Working knowledge of integrating external data into real-time applications using JSON, REST, WebSocket or MQTT
- Experience working in a team-based content pipeline under version control using Perforce, Plastic SCM or Git
- Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications
- Experience with Unreal Engine server/client architecture and network replication
- Exposure to digital twin, industrial simulation or enterprise visualization projects
- Familiarity with analytics or streaming data concepts, or interest in learning SAS products such as CI360, Intelligent Decisioning or Event Stream Processing
- Game industry experience, or a portfolio of shipped titles or interactive experiences
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must not require now or in the future sponsorship for employment visa status
