About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maintain and repair compressor drives, compressors, and associated plant and storage infrastructure
- Maintain station operating units and auxiliary equipment
- Identify equipment and parts needed
- Obtain clearances from operating staff and gas control for maintenance requirements
- Operate compressor drives, compressors, and associated plant and storage infrastructure
- Inspect and assess station operating units, auxiliary equipment, instruments, controls, and emergency equipment
- Carry out operating orders and gas control centre requirements to maintain system gas flows and pressures
- Interpret and calculate information from charts, computer applications, and measurement instruments
- Prepare and process logs, forms, and reports
- Conduct natural gas and recovered by-products tests, including dewpointing and sample gathering
- Inspect contractor and other work for compliance with instructions, standards, and specifications
- Perform gas line operations including line locating, foreign crossings, hot taps, hot tie-ins, block valve operation, and gas line integrity projects
- Coordinate or participate in gas line integrity digs, cleaning runs, electronic tool runs, and gas line recoating
- Maintain gas line infrastructure such as signs, valves, buildings, and rectifiers
- Check, report, and participate in settling property and damage claims
- Organize, coordinate, and schedule work assignments and maintain operating records
- Oversee assigned employees' and contractors' work
- Mentor apprentice personnel when acting as a Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic
Requirements
What you’ll need- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Provincial or Interprovincial Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Certificate OR Provincial or Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (Heavy Duty Mechanic) Certificate
- Physically fit, documented by a doctor’s certificate recognizing job requirements
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
- Ability to work extended hours and standby schedules
- Ability to travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters
- Safety-sensitive position subject to the Drug and Alcohol Policy
