About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the senior leader responsible for construction execution of the High Voltage portfolio of Substation and Transmission projects
  • Provide senior-level leadership and oversight across multiple projects
  • Oversee Construction Managers and Superintendents within the portfolio
  • Assume responsibility for profitable, well-constructed, safe, and timely project completion
  • Provide direction, support, and management escalation for construction teams
  • Establish expectations for execution, safety, quality, productivity, and accountability
  • Provide bid support for substation projects
  • Lead, mentor, and develop construction teams
  • Determine cost-effective construction methods and use of personnel, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
  • Coordinate with internal departments across multiple work disciplines
  • Develop long-term partnerships and repeat business opportunities
  • Promote and enforce safety and quality standards
  • Ensure management is fully informed of project issues
  • Intervene and provide leadership on critical project challenges and recovery efforts
  • Oversee project controls, planning, cost management, estimating, takeoffs, progress tracking, reporting, scheduling, and change/risk management
  • Represent the company at project meetings
  • Support scheduling, material management, and cost management
  • Provide constructability reviews and feedback to Engineering teams during design
  • Lead organizational improvement and best-practice implementation
  • Participate in continuous improvement teams
  • Ensure financial, operational, and client satisfaction objectives
  • Oversee project health, risk management, resource allocation, and executive reporting
  • Ensure consistency in project controls, reporting, forecasting, and execution methodologies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 15+ years’ experience managing substation related construction projects
  • 10+ years of experience with energizing and placing HV projects in service
  • Construction or Engineering Degree Required
  • Engineering experience preferred
  • Up to 75% travel may be required
  • Understanding of project plans, specifications, drawings, P6 schedules, contracts, subcontract management, purchase orders, document control, submittals, and other project management activities
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team of professionals across multiple disciplines
  • Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and teams
  • Self-motivated with skills to motivate others
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, walk the property and laydown yards, and carry up to 50 pounds
