About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Direct safe and efficient facility activities while adhering to applicable laws, regulations, DOE Orders, and company requirements
  • Supervise operator activities associated with MPC and in-cell crane activities 221S, 511S, 512S, and canister movements
  • Maintain sufficient supplies to support facility operations
  • Plan and coordinate work involving production and support groups
  • Review and approve lockout/tagout plans for hazardous energy control and canyon tagouts
  • Ensure facility activities comply with licenses, permits, plant procedures, and Technical Standards/Operating Requirements
  • Shut down the facility or direct necessary actions to ensure safe conditions when required
  • Approve maintenance, operations, construction, test, and surveillance activities affecting the facility or equipment
  • Ensure operators are trained, qualified, physically fit, and fit for duty
  • Coordinate with support organizations to ensure operating activities are completed as scheduled
  • Perform initial investigations of abnormal events and remove equipment or systems from service as necessary
  • Direct emergency operations and train personnel in emergency activities
  • Conduct periodic facility tours to observe safe, procedural performance
  • Identify housekeeping and material-condition deficiencies for corrective action
  • Mentor operators, particularly in Disciplined Operations
  • Maintain logs and records of operating events
  • Ensure operators review operating procedure changes and plant modifications
  • Perform Field Property Administrator responsibilities for equipment inventories
  • Typically report to and take direction from the shift manager
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma/GED, Associates degree in a related technical discipline, BA/BS in a non-technical discipline, or a Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline and experience in a relevant engineering, operations, and/or maintenance function
  • 3+ years Nuclear experience
  • Deviations to education and/or experience requirements must follow DOE Order 426.2 protocols
  • MPC crane operator and canister operator qualification must be completed within one year
  • Preferred: MPC crane operator or Vit operator qualification
  • Preferred: Qualified operator/supervisor
