About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Ensure Head Start standards, regulations, and Save the Children policies and procedures are implemented consistently and in compliance with applicable requirements
  • Support the management team with human resources planning, organizing, developing, coordinating, record keeping, reporting, and monitoring
  • Manage center recruitment, orientation, training, performance management, employee recognition, communication, disciplinary matters, and employee exit procedures
  • Add employees to HRIS and ChildPlus databases and conduct regular audits and updates
  • Maintain personnel files, licensing binders, and required uploaded documentation
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of personnel records
  • Process employee position, salary, and location changes in MySource
  • Execute CCCBC renewals, track expiration dates, contact employees, and coordinate fingerprinting appointments and payments
  • Maintain spreadsheets tracking education credentials, CDA, CPR/First Aid expirations, and follow-up dates
  • Manage short-term disability and workers’ compensation practices and claims
  • Support furlough processing, including spreadsheets, letters, and staff communications
  • Send bi-weekly timesheet reminders to supervisors
  • Confer with Assistant Program Directors and Education Managers on monthly classroom placement lists, vacancies, and changes
  • Visit centers and administrative offices monthly to connect with managers and employees and support engagement efforts
  • Order name badges
  • Support Day One onboarding activities
  • Assist with HR activities for new program start-ups
  • Report to the Director of Human Resources-Head Start
  • Ensure the safety and security of children and families encountered through the role

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Effective time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, internally and externally
  • Willingness to travel locally up to 25%
  • Ability to drive a fleet or rental vehicle for Save the Children business travel
  • Ability to perform medium to heavy physical work, exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 5–10 pounds constantly
  • Ability to perform sitting, crawling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping
  • Ability to perform repetitive action and motion skills, keyboarding, and computer use
  • Clear pre-employment background checks, including criminal records, sex offender registries, employment and education verifications, and child abuse registry check if required
  • Pass all state and local health requirements after job offer and prior to employment
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and comply with Save the Children motor vehicle safety policies
