About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Undertake detailed site surveys of existing water systems and infrastructure
- Assess sanitaryware, outlets, pipework, controls, water pressures, flow rates, metering and associated equipment
- Identify water-consumption reduction opportunities while maintaining performance and user experience
- Develop practical water-efficiency solutions based on survey findings and client requirements
- Select and specify products, equipment and technologies
- Produce technical scopes, specifications, Bills of Quantities, material schedules, drawings and schematics
- Support Investment Grade Proposals, project costing and quotation review
- Identify assumptions, exclusions, risks and variations before delivery
- Take ownership of approved projects through mobilisation, installation, commissioning and handover
- Coordinate delivery partners, plumbers, engineers and specialist subcontractors
- Monitor progress, quality, safety, scope, variations and technical issues
- Review RAMS, permits, isolations and competency information
- Coordinate commissioning and verify installation performance
- Compile project handover packs and secure client acceptance
- Identify ongoing monitoring, maintenance, optimisation and further water-efficiency opportunities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong practical background in plumbing, mechanical services, water systems or water-efficiency technologies
- Experience undertaking site surveys and assessing existing water installations
- Ability to understand water pressures, flow rates, pipework arrangements and plumbing systems
- Experience specifying plumbing products or water-saving technologies
- Ability to produce scopes of work, specifications and Bills of Quantities
- Good understanding of construction and installation activities
- Experience supervising contractors, engineers or site works
- Strong problem-solving skills and confidence making practical technical decisions
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of project costs and variations
- Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with clients, contractors and suppliers
- Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements within construction and engineering environments
- Practical experience is particularly important; a traditional engineering degree is not necessarily required
