About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support setup, configuration, and sustainment of ground systems used for flight testing and live missions
- Operate ground systems and operator consoles during live missions, monitoring telemetry, system health and behavior, and data integrity
- Identify, document, and assist with troubleshooting anomalies during testing and live mission operations
- Support ground systems readiness checks before flight tests and live missions
- Execute hardware and software test procedures
- Assist with scripted or semi-automated testing and data analysis
- Validate new user interface features, configurations, and system changes before operational use
- Document anomalies, root causes, resolutions, and lessons learned for Engineering and Operations teams
- Run and maintain Python or shell scripts for testing, monitoring, and data processing
- Author or modify simple scripts under guidance for test execution and operational workflows
- Extract, review, and post-process data
- Identify repetitive operational tasks suitable for automation
- Perform basic systems administration on Linux-based ground systems
- Assist with networking setup and verification for distributed ground systems
- Ensure ground systems are configured, documented, and ready for deployment or live missions
- Support mission planning and readiness activities
- Perform console operations during flight tests and live missions
- Participate in post-mission debriefs and lessons-learned activities
- Provide surge support to other Mission Operations functions as operational tempo requires
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong desire to learn from System SMEs across vehicle design, software, power systems, and RF links
- Ability to distill complex technical discussions into clear, actionable tasks
- Experience with or high aptitude for learning Google Earth and Team Awareness Kit
- Familiarity with Linux-based operating systems and command-line environments
- Hands-on experience with operational systems such as ground systems, avionics, or IT systems
- Basic scripting skills/experience, Python preferred, or demonstrated ability to learn very quickly
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Ability to follow technical procedures
- Demonstrated success planning, executing, and closing out integrated ground operations
- Clear, effective communication across cross-functional and multi-functional teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently
- Willingness to be multi-functional across Mission Operations
- Ability to work in fast-paced and austere environments where safety, discipline, and attention to detail matter
- Preferred: Associate degree in aerospace or physical science
- Preferred: Exposure to RF systems or Software-Defined Radios (SDR)
- Preferred: Experience supporting ground/flight testing and operations
- Preferred: Hands-on experience with HAPS, UAVs, or large-scale flight operations
- Preferred: Experience with telemetry, ground control systems, or real-time data monitoring
- Preferred: Prior military, UAV, or flight test operations background
