About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own features end-to-end from ambiguous founder input through live production
Translate documented user journeys into technical specifications, full-stack implementation, and automated E2E coverage
Set and maintain engineering standards for coding agents by authoring CLAUDE, AGENTS, or cursorrules
Configure MCP servers to maximize development leverage
Build and maintain production-grade Playwright suites for critical user journeys
Ensure 100% journey coverage on revenue-critical flows
Define SLOs and instrument observability using Sentry and OpenTelemetry
Carry incident response for owned surfaces
Design and maintain systems aligned with GDPR requirements, including data minimization and purpose limitation
Use EU-only hosting infrastructures including Hetzner, Scaleway, AWS Frankfurt, and Vercel EU
Document architectural decisions in ADRs
Participate in high-bar technical debates
Collaborate with Jobcenter caseworkers in German during 30-minute calls

Requirements

What you’ll need

Proven track record of shipping complex production systems end-to-end
Ideally experience as an early engineer at a startup or within a high-bar product team
Fluency in TypeScript across the entire stack
Experience with Next.js 15+ / React 19+ (App Router, Server Components, Server Actions)
Experience with PostgreSQL and an ORM (Drizzle or Prisma)
Daily, fluent use of AI coding agents such as Claude Code or Cursor as the primary execution layer
Clear opinions on when AI agents accelerate or hinder development
Production-grade experience with Playwright or Cypress
On-call incident response experience
Structured logging experience
Baseline literacy in GDPR/BDSG (§32 BDSG) is a strong plus
Highly autonomous DRI mindset without a manager layer running sprints or setting tickets
Exceptional written English (C1+)
Professional proficiency in German required for 30-minute calls with Jobcenter caseworkers without switching languages
Submission of an AI coding workflow artifact with context
Submission of a production system owned by the candidate, including deployed URL and GitHub repository, with context
Five-minute Loom video walking through one of the projects, with camera on and no script
