About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work alongside the Organisational Design and Development Lead to shape, deliver, and embed OD&D initiatives
  • Lead the design and implementation of organisational structures, ways of working, and target operating models
  • Improve organisational effectiveness, service delivery, and performance
  • Contribute to the development and evolution of the organisation’s Approach to Performance
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to embed a sustainable performance culture
  • Support leadership development to strengthen capability, drive organisational objectives, and shape culture
  • Partner with HR Business Partners, People and Place colleagues, and divisional leadership teams
  • Provide consultancy on leadership and strategic capability development
  • Build influential relationships with senior leaders and translate business needs into practical OD&D solutions
  • Line manage a small team of consultants
  • Oversee leadership and strategic capability learning interventions
  • Provide evidence-based advice on organisational impacts, risks, and opportunities
  • Build internal organisation design capability through coaching, training, and toolkits
  • Contribute to the Civil Service OD&D community and share best practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Professional qualification in Organisational Design, HR, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Experience building trusted, influential relationships with senior leaders
  • Ability to understand senior leaders’ needs and deliver responsive design solutions
  • Seeing the Big Picture – Level 3
  • Leadership – Level 3
  • Changing and Improving – Level 3
  • Experience using diagnostic methods such as data analysis, interviews, focus groups, and surveys
  • Ability to design future operating models, teams, structures, and jobs systematically
  • Ability to develop and manage change implementation programmes and plans
  • Consultancy and group facilitation skills
  • Understanding of learning theory and learning and development approaches
  • Ability to design, facilitate, and evaluate learning plans and processes
  • Understanding of how to create a learning culture supporting continuing professional development
  • Successful candidates must complete the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS)
  • Must meet UK Civil Service Nationality Rules
  • Right to work in the UK; Skilled Worker visa sponsorship may be available subject to current criteria
  • Must provide a CV and supporting statement of no more than 1000 words
