About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide advice and guidance on specifying, implementing, and operating cyber security controls
- Conduct security risk assessments and business impact analyses on complex information systems
- Obtain and act on vulnerability information
- Investigate major security breaches and recommend control improvements
- Develop information security policies, standards, and guidelines
- Interpret information assurance and security policies to manage risks
- Use control testing information to support information assurance assessments
- Conduct risk-based assurance reviews of internal solutions and third-party suppliers
- Manage complex risks, issues, remediation activities, and lessons learned
- Design and review secure system architectures
- Assess the impact of vulnerabilities, emerging technologies, and security technology developments
- Build and maintain stakeholder relationships and facilitate discussions on complex or high-risk matters
- Represent the security profession and communicate technical and risk concepts to internal and external audiences
- Apply systems, security, policy, business architecture, and legal or regulatory knowledge to develop secure technical solutions and controls
Requirements
What you’ll need- Knowledge of information security standards including ISO/IEC 27001 and NIST SP 800-53
- Understanding of DPA 2018 and GDPR
- Ability to interpret and apply security standards and legal requirements
- Ability to evaluate technical, physical, procedural, and personnel controls
- Ability to recommend improvements and implement proportionate risk mitigation measures
- Communicating and Influencing (Level 3)
- Delivering at Pace (Level 3)
- Security and Information Risk technical/professional skills
- CV and supporting statement of no more than 750 words
- Successful completion of Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks
- Successful completion of additional National Security Vetting clearance (Security Check)
- Right to work in the UK or eligibility under the Skilled Worker visa route
- Minimum commitment to remain in post for 3 years unless promoted
