About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support origination, evaluation, negotiation, and closing of acquisitions of utility-scale wind, solar, and storage projects
- Evaluate prospective development teams and projects quantitatively and qualitatively
- Support due diligence and valuations for acquisitions and potential sales
- Manage the data room
- Conduct analyses independently and coordinate third-party reviews
- Develop and run financial models
- Own the financial modeling workstream by validating inputs, collaborating across Scout teams, and analyzing results
- Support development and negotiation of term sheets and board materials
- Integrate Scout team feedback into project approaches
- Implement company strategy and initiatives related to wind and solar development
- Mine ISO/RTO queues for potential targets
- Research market changes and identify high-potential opportunities
- Prepare proposals, presentations, and board papers
- Collaborate across the company on organic and strategic acquisition opportunities
- Support deal negotiation of commercial structures, financing, and closing
- Report directly to the Associate Director of M&A
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance, Business, Economics, or a quantitative field
- Entry level to 5 years of experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, or a related field
- Experience in financial modeling
- Passion for renewable energy and commitment to advancing its adoption
- High level of organization and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Desire to cultivate commercial and negotiation skills
- Strength in verbal and written communication and presentation development
- Ability to frame issues concisely with context, analysis, recommendations, and risk/benefit tradeoffs
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Authorized to work in the U.S.; this position is not eligible for sponsorship
- Awareness of economic drivers for renewable energy projects preferred but not required
- Basic understanding of Google Earth Pro or another GIS mapping software preferred but not required
- Demonstrated success in process management or process improvement preferred but not required
- Demonstrated ability to work in a flat organization and leverage colleagues across reporting lines preferred but not required
