About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define, evolve, and lead product and ecosystem strategy for a confidential intelligence-driven core platform
- Model operational signals, constraints, and policies into automated decision logic
- Lead early-stage platform definition ahead of Start of Operations
- Own system performance across Scout’s direct-to-consumer retail network
- Identify expansion opportunities for decision intelligence across domains and systems
- Solve ambiguous cross-functional problems through intelligent system design and decision frameworks
- Lead end-to-end development of a complex logic-heavy platform from concept through scale
- Translate operational needs into system logic and technical requirements
- Define data models, decision flows, signal ingestion, and output generation
- Balance deterministic rules with AI-assisted approaches
- Establish best practices for decisioning platforms
- Champion AI, machine reasoning, and advanced analytics for scalable decision-making
- Define AI augmentation versus fully automated execution
- Ensure models and logic are transparent, testable, and continuously improvable
- Align senior leadership, engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders on strategy and tradeoffs
- Build readiness, rollout strategies, guardrails, fallback behaviors, and manual override paths for a pre-launch platform
- Drive architectural decisions across systems, data flows, and integrations
- Define best practices for real-time decisioning, data latency, reliability, and observability
- Ensure enterprise security, privacy, and compliance standards
- Own live system behavior and decision quality after launch
- Monitor decisions for gaps, edge cases, and unintended outcomes
- Tune logic, rules, thresholds, and AI-driven decision frameworks using live data
Requirements
What you’ll need- 12+ years of product management experience with deep focus on technical platforms, complex systems, or decisioning engines
- Experience working with AI/ML technologies in a product, engineering, or business context
- Proven experience leading 0-to-1 products in pre-launch, startup, or transformation environments
- Track record of building logic-heavy or intelligence-driven systems coordinating multiple inputs and constraints
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, data architectures, and real-time processing
- Hands-on experience with AI/ML systems, rules engines, optimization problems, or decision frameworks
- Ability to reason about tradeoffs between accuracy, speed, explainability, and scalability
- Experience working closely with engineers and data scientists on system design
- Experience owning backend or platform products where value is delivered through system behavior and decision quality rather than user interfaces
- Ability to define strategy in highly ambiguous environments
- Ability to influence senior leadership and align diverse stakeholders
- Exceptional analytical and structured problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to define complex logic and decision flows with precision
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Data-driven mindset with comfort working with metrics, experimentation, and system telemetry
- High tolerance for ambiguity and comfort building new products
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- AI-related certification required
- Must be 18 years of age or older
